Beautiful spires formed in the Black Hills. It was recom
mended to the sculptor of Mt Rushmore to do his sculpture here but he chose Mt Rushmore because of the granite that could be more easily carved & also due to the sun's reflection on that peak. Beautiful natural stone formations remain on the drive along Needles Hwy.
