Memorial Day Weekend at the Hatfields/Cedar Rapids IA

Steve's sister, Ruthann, & her daughter's families joined us all in Cedar Rapids for a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend memory. What a lovely family Kristi, Gary, & their 4 adorable children - Hannah(13), Logan (11), Cloe (9), & Mason (7) are. Keri has 3 adorable sons, John (6), Sam (4), & Cal (2), & we were thrilled to meet cute 2 yr old Addi, daughter of Katie & Kevin, for the 1st time. We truly wish all our familes lived closer together so we could share the fun & joy of family. We parked our camper home on the street in front of Kristi & Gary's house & the plan was to have at least 1 child spend each night with us. The 1st night was great with dear Mason sharing our digs, but the 2nd night we were under tornado warnings so Kristi didn't want any of the children in the camper, understandably so! Well, Steve & I were nearly fast asleep when the tornado warning sirens went off in Cedar Rapids & you shoud have seen us bolt inside thru the rain & lightning with Bennie in arms. Everyone was in the basement & we quickly followed till the all clear was announced. My 1st experience with a tornado & trust me I have due respect for that "animal." Cedar Rapids was only about 40-50 mi away from the town of Parkersburg, IA that was devastated by that tornado. It was a great visit in CR & Kristi & Gary were the most charming & warm & welcoming hosts.
